Our Story
Hello, and thank you for visiting our site. I started making handmade soap for our dogs (the S&B name comes from them after all!) because I didn't see much of a market in stores for bar soap and was tired of using the bottle liquid soap as I found it messy to use. Pick up the bottle, pour it on your dog, add too much to one area and not enough to another area, put the bottle down, rub the soap in, pick up the bottle again to apply more soap to an area you missed….you get my point. I wanted to change the process of bathing our dogs to make it more streamlined and efficient. A dog bar soap was born!
The intention behind making the dog bar was to create a bar that is easy to hold, lasts a long time, makes bath time quicker, and smells great. After making a few trial and error batches and getting feedback from friends, I have tweaked the soap recipe to make a quality soap bar that comes in two sizes, large and small, for all your furry friends.
I have since broadened my soap making skills to include human handmade soap as well. I loved making dog soap so much and love the chemistry behind making soap in general. Some of the soaps have natural colorants that come from coffee, spices, herbs, vegetables and fruits. I also create oil infusions that come from ingredients from my own garden: rosemary, basil, and lemongrass to name a few. This doesn’t do much for fragrance or color, but provides the natural benefits from that plant.
